Newark Police Seek Public’s Help with Locating Carjacking Suspect

Newark Police seek the public’s help with locating Laron Carmon who is wanted for a carjacking incident on October 25.

According to police officials, the victim told police that his vehicle, a 2011 Audi A5, was taken at gunpoint by the suspect at approximately 5:15 p.m. in the 300 block of 13th Avenue. The victim met Carmon at this location to sell him the vehicle, which he listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

Police report that after a test drive, the victim got out of the car to get the money from two males who came with Carmon. When they didn’t have the money, the victim went to get back into the car but Carmon was pointing a gun at him.

The two males with Carmon got in the car, which fled north on South 6th Street. Carmon is known to frequent South Orange Avenue and South 9th Street.

While detectives investigating this incident are seeking the public’s help in quickly identifying the suspect, Newark Police urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
