Newark Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Theft from Auto Suspect

Newark Police request the public’s help with identifying a suspect in connection with an incident of breaking into a vehicle on February 7.

According to police, officers responded to a report about a burglary into an automobile that was discovered by the vehicle’s owner around 6:45 p.m. on Bruen and Hamilton streets. 

Police said when he reached his vehicle, the owner saw that the passenger window had been shattered. On surveillance video, the suspect was captured breaking into the victim's vehicle and taking personal belongings.

According to police, the suspect was wearing a blue puffy jacket with a black hooded sweatshirt and grey pants and was carrying a black bag with white lettering.

While detectives are investigating this incident they are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
