Newark Police Seek Public's Help Identifying Suspect in Commercial Robbery

Newark

Newark Public Safety officials reported authorities to seek the public's help to identify a robbery suspect, the below-pictured suspect, who robbed a store clerk of $3,000 today.

Police officers responded to a call about a robbery that occurred at approximately 9 a.m. at Macara Express Business, a money transfer service located in the 50 block of Wilson Avenue, officials say.

The suspect, a Hispanic male, was captured on surveillance video walking into the business wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, blue sneakers, and a black surgical mask.

According to authorities, he asked the store clerk several questions, then pulled out a knife and forced her to give up the money and her cell phone before fleeing eastbound on Wilson Avenue.

The suspect is 5'9" to 5'11 and has a medium build and light skin complexion.

He has a mustache, slight facial hair on his chin, and two tattoos on his right forearm.

Officials reported that he was last seen eastbound on New York Avenue from Ann Street on surveillance video.
