Newark Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Robbery Suspects

Newark Police request the public’s help identifying the suspects who robbed a woman of her purse on January 18.

According to police, officers responded to a call about a theft around 8:40 p.m. in the 100 block of McWhorter Street.  

Police said that the suspects, captured on surveillance video, approached the victim after exiting a white Honda Accord. 

According to police officials, they snatched her purse, and that caused her to fall into a post. The suspects fled in the Honda Accord, which was recovered in the 100 block of South Munn Avenue.

Police said that Suspect #1 is described as a thin Black male who was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black pants with a white stripe, a grey mask, and black and grey sneakers. 

Police said that Suspect #2 is described as a thin Black male who was wearing a black jacket with white markings on both sleeves, a Nike face mask, and black sneakers with white soles.

Newark Police urge anyone with information about the suspects to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). 

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
