Newark Police Seek Public's Assistance in Identifying Shooting Suspect

Newark police are seeking assistance from the public to identify a suspect connected to a shooting incident that occurred on February 21.Ad According to a statement released by Newark  Police, the incident, which fortunately did not result in any injuries or property damage, occurred around 8:22 p.m. in the 300 block of S. 10th Street. 

Police officials credited a Shot Spotter device for alerting them of the shooting. 

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers conducted a thorough search of the vicinity, discovering two shell casings.

These findings have led to the association of a suspect with the shooting, who has been captured in images sought for distribution.

Police said the individual in question is described as a Black male, donned in a distinctive attire consisting of a blue bubble jacket, light blue ripped jeans, and sneakers that are blue and white in color.

Following the incident, he was seen fleeing eastbound on South Orange Avenue.AdDirector Fragé is spearheading the appeal for anyone with information about the suspect to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in resolving the case.

The Newark Police Division has made available its 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) for the public to share any relevant details.

Fragé reassures that all tips received through the Crime StStoppersrogram will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and that contributors may be eligible for a reward, underlining the commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the community.
