Newark Police Seek Assistance in Identifying Suspect in Nike Store Theft

Newark police are appealing to the public for help in identifying a man involved in two separate shoplifting events at a local Nike Store on Broad Street, occurring on the morning and early afternoon of Tuesday, February 6.

NinoPolice said the suspect, who visited the store twice in a single day, is accused of stealing merchandise, including a Nike jacket and two pairs of sweatpants, with the total value of the stolen items reaching $170.

The first incident saw the individual leaving the store with a Nike jacket valued at $70, while during his second visit, he made off with two pairs of sweatpants, each priced at $50.

Police have released a description of the suspect as a White male, around 5’5” tall with a slight beard and dark hair, and was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants, and distinctively colored white and red Jordans.

Director Fragé has urged anyone with information that could lead to the identification of this suspect to get in touch with the Newark Police Division through their 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  

The department assures that all tips received will be treated with confidentiality and could potentially lead to a reward for information that assists in resolving the case.
