Newark Police Search for Suspect Wanted for Defacing Election Signs with Swastika

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that the Newark Police Division is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect who is wanted in connection with a bias incident that occurred on March 29th.

Authorities say police responded to the 400-block of Broadway on a report that banners posted promoting candidates for the upcoming May 8th Newark election was defaced.

Upon officer's arrival they observed one of the banners spray-painted to depict a swastika.

A second banner had also been spray-painted over to deface photos of the candidates according to police.

While police are actively investigating this incident, they seek the public’s help in quickly identifying the suspect or suspects involved in this incident.
