Newark Police Search for Suspect Wanted for Carjacking Taxi Driver

Newark Public Safety Officials request the public’s assistance in identifying a male wanted in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Saturday, November 30.

According to police, at approximately 8:10 p.m., the suspect carjacked a Gold Lincoln Taxi at knifepoint at the intersection of Sherman Avenue and Murray Street in Newark.

Police say the suspect demanded that the driver exit the vehicle after robbing him of his cash.

According to police, the vehicle was later recovered on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, with a light complexion, short hair, slight beard and is heavy set.

Detectives investigating this incident are seeking the public’s help in quickly identifying the suspect as part of this investigation.
