Newark Police Search for Package Theft Suspect

Newark Police request the public's help in identifying a male in connection with a package theft that occurred on Friday, March 11.

According to police, at approximately 12:15 p.m., police responded to a residence at Hazelwood Avenue near Fortuna Street on a call of a theft. 

Police said that a male suspect walked onto the porch and took the victim's delivered package after placing it in a plastic bag.

The Detectives investigating this incident have obtained surveillance footage showing the male suspect taking the package. 

Police said that he is described as a Black male with a low-cut afro. The suspect was wearing a blue jacket with white and red lettering on the upper back right side, black jeans, and white Nike "Shox" sneakers. 

Newark Police officials urge anyone with information on the identity of this suspect to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
