Newark Police Search for Arson Suspects

Police in Newark are on the search for two suspects wanted for an arson that occurred in an apartment building located at 170 Sylvan Avenue.

According to a statement released by Newark Police Director Anthony Ambrose, arson detectives responded to reports of a suspicious fire on September 3rd shortly before 8:30 p.m., in the recently constructed Cherry Park Apartments.

Director Ambrose said a male and a female, entered the building through the front door and fled through a side exit after setting several fires inside one of the apartments in the building.

The fire caused some damage as but the building’s fire suppression system knocked most of the flames down Director Ambrose said.

The male suspect was in black, shirt, sneakers and pants. The female was wearing a black dress with black sneakers and carrying a black bag.

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
