Police Respond to Shots Fired Incident in South Ward Neighborhood Where Fatal Shooting Occurred Friday

Investigators are looking into a shots-fired incident that erupted late Sunday night in a section of Newark where authorities were already investigating a homicide that occurred on Friday.

Gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 787 Clinton Avenue around 11:10 p.m., sending police to the scene to investigate.

Upon arrival, units found evidence that a shooting occurred, but a search of the scene indicated no victims, according to police.

Investigators said during the officer's search last night, they found shell casings in the same area where a 32-year-old man was fatally shot on Friday afternoon.
