Newark Police Pursuit Ends in Crash, Arrests

A police pursuit that occurred in the city's West Ward on Thursday afternoon had officers take two suspects into custody and recover a loaded weapon Newark.

Police were informed that occupants inside a vehicle were armed with a gun just before 4 p.m. at a location in Newark.

According to preliminary reports, officers located the vehicle and attempted to pull it over when the driver sped away then crashed into a house in the vicinity of 14th Avenue and South 9th Street.

A male suspect bailed from the vehicle and led police on a foot chase where they captured him a short distance away.

Police say a female suspect was also taken into custody and charged with the crime. Officers located a gun after a search of the vehicle according to reports.

EMS assisted one of the suspects who suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident. Authorities set up a large crime scene in the area where they launched an investigation.
