Newark Police Officers met today before their deployment to Puerto Rico to assist federal, Puerto Rican, and other agencies in responding to the impact of Hurricane Maria on the island.
According to police offcials, the team will also bring generators and other emergency equipment to assist in the relief efforts.
The contingency of Newark's finest will receive a State Police escort to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Wrightstown, where they are scheduled to fly out today at 3:30 p.m.
