Newark Police Officers Successful Arrest of Alleged Drug Dealer During Foot Pursuit

Newark

A swift takedown of a man who was reportedly involved in a narcotics sale on a street in Newark on Wednesday had police officers chase the suspect through a community in the city.

According to preliminary reports, residents and business owner complaints to authorities of drug dealing in the lower Broadway neighborhoods had police officials step up enforcement in the area.

On Wednesday afternoon, police patrolling the area of Crane and Broadway spotted a suspect involved in a drug transaction at approximately 2 p.m.

When units attempted to question the suspect during their investigation, the suspect bolted away from officers and sprinted through several neighborhoods with officers in pursuit according to reports.

EMS units were called to the scene to treat the victim for a medical condition that was possibly due to exhaustion.
