Police officials in Newark said 5th Precinct Police Officers Steven Acebedo and Luis Gallegos responded to a residence on the 100 block of Quitman Street and assisted EMS with performing Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an unresponsive elderly woman.
According to police, April 26, at approximately 8:00 a.m., the officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Quitman Street on reports of an elderly woman not breathing.
Upon arrival, officers immediately assisted EMS with administering CPR on the victim who was unresponsive in her residence.
The officers assisted the victim transport to the local hospital, during which she regained a spontaneous heartbeat and respirations.
