EMS transported a Newark Police Officer to the hospital after he was struck by a car that fled the scene Saturday morning.
According to a report released by police officials, the incident happened at approximately 6 a.m. near the intersection of Nesbitt Street near 8th Avenue.
Officials say a white vehicle fitting the description of a Honda Pilot struck the officer who was operating a motorcycle unit at that location. The car has possible NY license plates "237-88ML" according to reports. The vehicle reportedly fled westbound on I-280.
The officer had complaints of pain and a non-life-threatening injury.
The driver of the vehicle remains at-large.
