Newark Police Officer Injured in Motorcycle Collision, Investigation Underway

A Newark Police Officer, who was a part of the Traffic Unit, was involved in a motor vehicle collision today, Thursday, October 26, according to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:11 a.m. when the officer, riding a motorcycle, was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of McCarter Highway and Emmet Street.

The injured officer was swiftly transported to University Hospital for medical attention.

Fortunately, the injuries sustained in the collision are reported to be non-life-threatening, and the officer is currently in stable condition.

Thankfully, no other injuries resulting from the incident have been reported.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
