Newark Police Officer Arrested for Pointing Weapon During Off-Duty Incident

A Newark police officer was arrested after he allegedly pointed his service weapon at a civilian during an off-duty incident in Woodbridge.

On Oct. 25 at approximately 1 a.m., outside a township steakhouse on the 100 block of Oakwood Avenue the incident began at approximately 1 a.m. pointed his service weapon at a civilian during an early-morning verbal confrontation.

Andre Evans was charged by Woodbridge police after he allegedly pointed his service weapon at a civilian during an early-morning verbal confrontation.

Evans and a North Carolina man were arguing inside the restaurant parking lot where Evan's allegedly pointed a firearm at the man's face,

Evans was later released on $20,000 bail.

A police investigation of the incident is ongoing, he added.
