Newark Police Investigates Theft of Car from Woman in Newark's North Ward

Police in Newark are on the search for several thieves who made off with a car in Newark's North Ward on Sunday.

According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of Taylor Street and Broadway at around 7 p.m. to investigate reports of car theft.

Units arrived at the scene and were told by the female victim that while she attempted to retrieve items from her vehicle, a white SUV approached occupied by several males.

The woman said one of the male occupants jumped into the driver's seat of her car and sped away in the 2013 white Kia.

The vehicle has a specialty NJ license plate "RM66ED".

Officials say the suspects were observed at a gas station on the border of Newark and Irvington attempting to use the woman's credit cards that were left in a purse inside the vehicle.

The vehicle has essential medication that the victim must use to stay healthy.
