Newark Police Investigate Several Shots Fired Incidents; Injuries

Newark authorities are investigating several shooting incidents that occurred in the city overnight in the city.

The 100 block of Smith Street became an active crime scene at around 10 p.m. after gunmen arrived in the area and sprayed the residential community with multiple rounds of bullets.

Police arrived in the area and setup a crime scene that had them close the block from South Orange Avenue as they searched for possible suspects. There were non-fatal injuries reported.

Shortly before 10 p.m., reports of shots fired with a person down in the 60's block of 16th Avenue had police on the scene requesting EMS.

According to Newark Police officials, there were no victims found.

Over in the city's South Ward, a vehicle struck by gunfire in the 20's block of Johnson Avenue had the police department Major Crimes division on the scene before 12:30 a.m.

Police did not report any injuries for the shooting but did establish a crime scene to determine the motive for the shooting.

There were no arrests reported in any of the shootings.

**UPDATE 6:28 am** Confirmation made for One (1) victim for Smith Street shooting scene. Stable condition for the victim. Vehicle (Audi) sped from the scene.
