Newark Police Investigate Multiple Reports of Shots Fired

Multiple shooting reports that occurred around the city had police in Newark investigating.

Gunfire began at around 7:30 p.m. in the 200 block of South 11th Street sending police units to the scene where officers located a vehicle struck by gunfire. A brief foot pursuit of a male suspect responsible for the shooting had officers losing sight of the man in the area. There were no injuries reported.

Over in the city's West Ward, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 200 block of Stuyvesant Avenue at around 11:30 p.m.

Officers arriving at the scene found evidence that a shooting had occurred but not victims located. The motive for the shooting is under investigation.

Newark Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in Newark's East Ward overnight. The shooting happened in the single digit block of Hawkins Court at around midnight.

According to preliminary reports, several calls to police reporting shots fired had officers on the scene where they found about a half dozen shell casings. Police found a vehicle that left the scene at a location in the city's North Ward struck by bullets reports said.

Police found not injured victims in the East Ward shooting.

Authorities reported no immediate arrests in any of the shooting.
