A man barricaded inside a residence in the Newark's East Ward has a host of law enforcement officials in an East Ward neighborhood at this time.
Police were called to the 200 block of South Street (Pennington Court) shortly before 3 a.m. after receiving reports of an armed man at that location.
Arriving unit attempted to get the man to come out of a residence and surrender when the man refused.
SWAT were called to the neighborhood a short time later to assist local authorities in the second barricaded standoff that occurred in the city in less that 24-hours.
According to Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, there are possibly hostages inside the residence.
