Newark Police Facilities to Undergo Deep Cleaning To Reduce Risk of COVID-19 Exposure

Newark City officials announcd that all police facilities will undergo a deep cleaning to reduce the risk of and potential exposure to Coronavirus (COVID-19) beginning tomorrow, Sunday, March 15, 2020 through Monday, March 16, 2020.

According o a statement released by the mayor, precinct commanders and staff will operate out of mobile units during the cleaning operation, which is anticipated to be completed within 4-hours per facility.

Police will receive complaints, take crime reports and address other needs of the public via the mobile command units during the cleaning operation. Public access to precinct buildings will be temporarily suspended as part of this operation according to the statement.

During the cleaning operation, the public may contact precincts via the below listed mobile phone numbers.

All precinct’s will be cleaned on Sunday with the exception of the 2nd Precinct, which will be cleaned on Monday. Kindly use the mobile numbers provided to contact precinct staff.

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose thanks the public in advance for its cooperation and patience during this event. Updates will be provided as police precincts are reopened to the public.
