Newark Police Chase, Apprehend Alleged Illegal Dumping Suspects

Newark

Newark authorities announced the arrest of Jose Penadeluna, 39, and Wilson Abreu, 44, both of Newark, for an incident of illegal dumping this morning.

According to officials, at approximately 12:20 a.m., members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force observed a dark-colored pickup truck arrive at the area of North 13th Street and Park Avenue.

Police say the driver, Penadeluna, exited the vehicle and began throwing several black garbage bags and other household materials, including a toilet and sheetrock, onto the street.

Upon becoming aware of police presence, Penadeluna fled on foot. Officers immediately apprehended and arrested along with his passenger, Abreu.

Police charged both men with illegal dumping and illegal transport of solid waste.

In addition, Penadeluna further charged with resisting arrest. The vehicle used to transport the dumped materials was towed and is subject to seizure by forfeiture.

These charges are merely accusations.

Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
