Newark Police Car Crash Injures Officer, Civilian

Investigators are looking into a crash that involved a Newark Police cruiser which caused injuries to an officer and a civilian in Newark's West Ward overnight.

The early morning crash happened in the vicinity of Florence Place and Sanford Avenue at approximately 3:40 a.m. where emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a crash with injuries at that location.

Upon rescue crews' arrival, they found a damaged car with a civilian trapped inside after the vehicle collided with a police car according to reports.

A police officer and the civilian were transported to the hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
