Police in Newark are reporting the arrest of Mr. Shawn A. Rosato, 24, of Newark, for an aggravated assault that occurred Tuesday, October 29,
According to Newark Police officials, at approximately 7 p.m., a woman was shot in the 100 block of Orchard Street. The woman was transported to University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and released.
Detectives investigating this incident obtained evidence that Shawn Rosato is a suspect in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Police say Rosato was arrested today without incident and faces charges of aggravated assault and weapon possession.
A second suspect, Mr.Lemel Battles, 19, also of Newark, was arrested in connection with this incident on November 12. He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.
These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
