Newark Police Arrests Drug Suspect After North Ward Chase

Monday night, Newark police successfully apprehended an alleged drug suspect following a pursuit in the North Ward area.AdThe incident occurred near a housing complex about two blocks from the intersection of Broadway and Grafton Avenue just before 8 p.m.

The investigation initially targeted individuals reportedly engaged in drug transactions.

Upon police arrival, a suspect, described as a black male wearing dark clothing, fled the scene. The suspect made a dash towards the Riverside Court housing development, attempting to evade the officers.

However, the pursuit was short-lived as the chasing officers quickly caught up with the suspect.AdHe was arrested without further incident near the housing complex.

Following the arrest, a crime scene unit was dispatched to assist in the investigation. Drugs and a weapon were recovered at the scene.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported in the course of the arrest.

The successful apprehension highlights the ongoing efforts of Newark Police in tackling drug-related crimes in the area.
