Newark Police Arrest Man Wanted for East Ward Stabbing

Newark Police officials announce the arrest of Jeff Napier, 40, of Newark, who was being sought for a stabbing that occurred on August 7 in Newark's East Ward.

According to police officials, at approximately 8:40 a.m., police responded to Chapel Street, near Raymond Boulevard, on reports of a stabbing. 

Police said that a man visiting a business in the area was stabbed by an unknown suspect who also chased him inside the business. 

The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.

According to police, detectives investigating this incident identified Napier as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. 

According to police, he was located and arrested on August 18 and faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
