Newark Officials Expect Heavy Monday Rain to Flood Streets in Newark

Newark officials are reporting that due to expected heavy rainfall and potential thunderstorms tomorrow, many streets may be flooded and should be avoided.

Heavy rain and gusty winds are expected to begin at approximately 8 a.m. tomorrow, continuing until the early evening. Wind gusts are predicted to be as high as 60 mph with rainfall totals of between 1” and 2” possible.

Police listed the following locations that should be potential for flooding.

The Department of Public Safety is coordinating responses to burglar alarms, flooding conditions and other weather-related incidents through the combined use of Police, Fire and Office of Emergency Management Personnel.

Special attention should be given to unsecured outdoor furniture, awnings, refuse and building materials.

For fire safety, please utilize flashlights, instead of candles, should you lose electricity due to this weather event.
