NPD1 helicopter patrol assisted police in Newark for the search of a suspect who was wanted for a stabbing that left a person injured in Newark's North Ward overnight.
According to preliminary reports, officials at the Clara Maass Hospital contacted police when a person entered the emergency department suffering a stab wound shortly before 12:20 a.m.
Police searched the 100 block of Riverside Court by air as officers on foot canvassed the area for the potential suspect.
Authorities detained one person, but it has not been confirmed if the suspect committed the crime.
The motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.
