Essex County authorities are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist this morning in Newark.
The Labor Day crash that involved a motorcycle and a car near the intersection of Summer and Montclair avenues just before 10 a.m.
Police say the motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital where doctors attempted to save his life but were unsuccessful.
The Essex County Prosecutor's office arrived at the scene to assist in the investigation.
The official cause of the crash remains under review by authorities.
There were no other severe injuries reported.
