Investigators from The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are looking into a shooting that killed a man in a Newark North Ward neighborhood overnight.
According to police, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 120 Riverside Court at approximately 11:30 p.m. sending multiple police units to the scene where upon their arrival, officers found a severely injured unidentified male suffering a gunshot wound to the neck.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital where doctors pronounced the victim dead according to reports.
Newark Police officers taped a section of the housing complex off that is located near NJ-21 and the Passaic River while detectives collected evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
There were no arrests reported.
