Newark North Ward Police are on the search for several suspects who are wanted for armed robberies/carjackings in that section of the city overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police issued a be on the lookout for a vehicle that was occupied by at least three suspects who produced a gun and committed an armed robbery in the vicinity of Clifton and Park avenues before 12:45 a.m.
Residents around the city said there is a rash of armed carjackings where suspects target women and take their vehicles while they are doing normal things like shopping or picking up kids from school.
Police officials have not released information on an alleged rash of carjackings that is affecting the city at this time.
Police say the suspects from last night are also believed to be responsible for other incidents in the North Ward.
The vehicle is a silver Mitsubishi that was last observed speeding on Park Avenue according to reports.
