By: Richard L. Smith

Newark and the North Jersey residents are set to enjoy a splendid Sunday followed by a summer-like Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ.FitnessAlthough it's not looking great outside at 6 a.m., forecasters from the weather agency said today marks a significant warming trend compared to yesterday.

Even warmer temperatures are anticipated for Monday, making it the hottest day of the week.

While the region enjoys mild morning temperatures, NWS forecasters said there is a slight chance of showers, particularly before 9 a.m. and then again after 5 p.m.

The day will remain partly sunny, with highs nearing 79 degrees.

This afternoon and evening, NWS meteorologists said residents might see spotty showers and potential thunderstorms between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m.

The real summer preview will hit on Monday, with temperatures soaring into the mid-80s.

The occasional shower might still pop up, but it won't be enough to dampen the spirit of the warm weather ahead.

Enjoy your Sunday, NJ.
