NEWARK, NJ- IRONBOUND Boxing & Education is hosting a summer business competition and small business accelerator called THRIVE. Thrive is designed for youth and young adults, age 14-22, in Newark, NJ.
Launching on July 2, THRIVE aims to educate participants on various business fundamentals such as launching and maintaining a newly formed business, as well as provide them with necessary start-up capital.
The top winners will receive $2,000, second prize winners will receive $1,000 and third prize winners will receive $500. A total of six prizes will be given in total as participants will compete within their respective age groups, 14-17 years old and 18-22 years old.
THRIVE will include virtual seminars facilitated over a four-week period, taught by the founder of IRONBOUND Boxing, “IRON” Mike Steadman and fellow business leaders with established track records.
Upon completing all required seminars, entrants will then be eligible to submit business ideas for consideration for the final pitch. Finalists will be invited to pitch their ideas in a live virtual pitch in front of a panel of esteemed judges. Winners will be announced August 31, 2020.
In addition, those who enter the pitch competition and complete the virtual seminars will also be eligible for internship opportunities throughout the year, which will be organized by the IRONBOUND Boxing & THRIVE.
This competition marks the beginning of IRONBOUND’s efforts to raise One Million dollars to mentor and educate 10,000 young entrepreneurs of color in Newark, NJ.
