Newark Men, Juvenile Arrested After Lyndhurst Police Pursuit Ended in Crash

Newark Lyndhurst

Police in Lyndhurst chased a car into Newark that was reportedly stolen from Fairfield on Wednesday morning.

According to Lyndhurst Police, officers on routine patrol on 10th Street said they observed a Honda Accord headed eastbound on Kingsland Avenue, tailgating another car at approximately 4 a.m.

Lyndhurst Police officials said a check of the vehicle's registration confirmed that the sedan had been stolen out of Fairfield. Officers attempted to pull the car over for a traffic stop and investigation but the driver sped away, according to police.

Police officials said the driver of the vehicle sped off, then continued into Nutley and ultimately making his way on McCarter Highway in Newark. Police say the car crashed into a concrete wall just off of NJ-21 at Washington Place with the suspects attempting to bail from the vehicle.

According to police, Mr. Shatuwan McCall, 18, -the driver- and rear-seat passenger, Jamoure Mr. Langevine, 21, were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for an evaluation. Then officially charged the pair with receiving stolen property.

Police say the juvenile was also captured then taken to University Hospital in Newark after complaining of non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say Newark Police wanted the McCall for warrants after skipping court appearances for other receiving stolen property charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
