Newark Man Wanted for Allegedly Pointing Gun at Woman

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Taquaan L. Peace, 28, of Newark, for an aggravated assault that occurred on Tuesday, January 16th.

According to police, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police responded to a South Ward residence on a call of an aggravated assault.

Police said a man pulled his vehicle in front of a woman he knows, who was walking on the sidewalk, and threatened her life while pointing a gun at her.

Newark detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Taquaan L. Peace as a suspect in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes and Terroristic Threats.

Police said Peace is also wanted for two counts of Contempt of Court.

While police are actively searching for Peace, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from our streets.

Peace is 6’1” tall, weighs 180 lbs. and is known to frequent the Riverview Courts apartment complex.
