Newark Man in Stolen Honda Arrested in Clark after Crash

A 25-year-old Newark man driving a stolen vehicle was arrested over the weekend following a chase initiated in Cranford but ended after a minor crash in Clark, according to police.

Cranford police attempted to stop a stolen 2016 4-door Honda on North Avenue East Friday at approximately 1:45 p.m.

The vehicle fled southbound on Centennial Avenue and entered the Garden State Parkway southbound where the driver, Chantha Koug, 25, of Newark, reached speed of 85 MPH. The vehicle exited the Parkway at the 135 exchange where the pursuit was terminated by police.

A short time later the suspect was apprehended on Maebelle Drive in Clark Township after having been involved in a minor motor vehicle accident.

The suspect was transported to the Cranford Police Department where he was charged with eluding, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and several motor vehicle summonses.

His bail was set at $50,000.00 and he was transported to the Union County Jail. His first appearance is Tuesday September 1.

The Honda was entered stolen earlier in the day by the Harrison NJ Police Department.
