Newark Man Robs Woman After She Generously Gave him a Ride from Rahway Police say

Newark Police Fugitive Apprehension Team reports the arrest of Mr. Tyshon K. Price, 19, of Newark, for an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018.

According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a woman in Rahway was approached by a man who asked her for a ride to Newark.

Director Ambrose said when they arrived in the 300-block of Jelliff Avenue, -Newark's South Ward- the man displayed a handgun and robbed the woman of her cash and personal property.

Detectives developed evidence identifying Price as a suspect in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose Director Ambrose said in the statement.

Detectives placed Price arrested Price on Friday without incident.

These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
