Newark Man Charged with Using Backhoe to Dump Soil in Vacant Lot

Police in Newark announced the arrest of 45-year-old Manuel Alfredo Jimenez, of Newark, for an incident of illegal dumping that occurred Sunday morning.

According to a statement released by police, at approximately 9:30 a.m., police observed Jimenez using a backhoe to remove soil from his property and dump it onto a vacant adjacent lot.

Police and code enforcement responded to the Voorhees Street location where Jimenez was issued several summonses for violating city ordinances before police arrested him police said.

Police charged Jimenez with illegal dumping and his John Deere Backhoe was subsequently towed and could be forfeited.

These charges are merely accusations.

Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
