Newark Man Charged with Burglarizing Rahway Home, Sexually Assaulting Woman

A man wanted for burglary and sexual assault charges was taken into custody by police.

Rahway Police said they arrested Jermaine Ramirez, 24 of Newark, after a joint investigation with the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit and Union County Sheriff’s Department revealed his alleged involvement in a burglary and sexual assault of a 67-year-old woman that occurred on East Hazelwood Avenue in Rahway on June 29th.

Police say Ramirez is also suspected of several residential burglaries on the 1000 block of Hazel Place and the 100 block of East Hazelwood Avenue.

Officers arrested Ramirez today and charged him with first degree aggravated sexual assault, second degree sexual assault, second degree burglary, third degree aggravated criminal sexual contact.
