Police arrested a man after they allegedly found him carrying a gun on Thursday.
Authorities said Lexus Thomas, 20, of Newark, was in possession of loaded .380 caliber handgun when they placed him under arrest.
According to police, at approximately 9 p.m., officers patrolling the area of South 6th Street and Springfield Avenue observed a male suspect with a handgun.
Police said , Thomas attempted to run but was immediately apprehended by officers , who then recovered the handgun.
Thomas was arrested and is charged with Unlawful Possession of a handgun and Resisting Arrest by Flight authorities said.
This charge is merely an accusation.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
