An Essex County veterinarian has agreed to permanently surrender his license following allegations that inadequate care at his Newark practice led to the deaths of several animals.

State officials said Dr. Ehren Seth Yablon, owner of Newark Veterinary Hospital, engaged in repeated negligence and misconduct, including keeping sick puppies in unsanitary conditions and failing to provide proper treatment.
Two parvovirus-positive Husky puppies and a bulldog under his care later died.
Yablon has been suspended since May 2022 under an interim order.
Under a final consent order filed this month, he permanently retired from practicing veterinary medicine in New Jersey and surrendered his authority to prescribe controlled substances.
He is barred from any involvement in the profession in the state going forward.
Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said the decision sends a clear message: “We will hold accountable veterinarians who harm or kill animals through negligence or incompetence.”

Investigators also reported unsanitary conditions at Yablon’s clinic, including rodent droppings, expired medication, and improperly stored equipment.
Officials said the permanent retirement protects pet owners and ensures professional standards within the state’s veterinary field.
