Residents in a Newark Ironbound neighborhood assisted a woman who struggled with a male who reportedly was attempting to carjack/ rob her on Tuesday.
According to preliminary reports, the incident happened in the 40's block of Richards Street just before 1:05 p.m. where police were alerted of criminal activity at that location.
Fast responding Newark East Ward units arrived at the scene and observed individuals subduing a male who was attempting to get away from their capture.
Police took the suspect into custody when they learned that the male attempted to carjack/rob a woman who got into a struggle with the suspect until residents got involved according to reports.
EMS arrived at the scene and took the woman to the hospital for minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
