Newark Housing Authority Shuts Down Proposed Party Set to Draw Thousands in Newark's North Ward

Newark

A celebration - of some type - that was set to draw over a thousand people to a Newark Housing development in Newark’s North Ward has been shut down by housing authority officials today.

Newark Housing Authority said the following regarding the party:

”The NHA has come across this advertisement and would like to let the Grafton Avenue community know that this event WILL NOT be taking place.

We will have enforcement at hand to assure that the quality of life is maintained.

We want health and security first”.

It is not clear who planned the pop-up party shown to draw thousands after posted on social media platforms.

On Sunday, police broke up a large gathering of over **[a thousand people in the city’s downtown that was organized through pop-up methods](https://www.rlsmedia.com/article/police-break-large-pop-gathering-downtown-newark)** on social media.
