Newark House Fire Displaces Nearly a Dozen Residents

Firefighters in Newark batted an early morning house fire that displaced nearly a dozen residents at a location in the city.

According to preliminary reports, firefighters responded to reports of a fire inside a house located in the 800 block of Clifton Avenue just before 4:20 a.m.

Crews arrived at the scene and found that fire ignites a two and a half story wood framed house with flames coming from the second floor.

Firefighters were able to extinguish flames before they entered the residence to search for trapped and injured occupants.

The fire was placed under control in less than an hour with no injuries reported. Officials say nine residents lost their home as a result of the fire.

The cause remains under investigation.
