Newark city officials announced that the community is invited to gather for Diwali 2025 on Saturday, October 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cherry Blossom Welcome Center in Branch Brook Park.

According to a press release, the event will feature festive food, cultural performances, and family-friendly activities designed to highlight the joy and traditions of the holiday.
Admission is free and open to all residents and visitors.
Diwali, often referred to as the “Festival of Lights,” is one of the most important holidays in Indian culture.
The celebration symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, with families often gathering to light lamps, exchange gifts, and share meals.
The Newark event seeks to bring that spirit of togetherness to the city, showcasing cultural traditions while encouraging community unity.
