Newark

Firefighters swiftly extinguished a fire that damaged a house in the West Ward Saturday morning.

The fast-moving fire broke out at 297 Smith Street at 3:30 a.m., sending crews to the scene to do battle.

Upon arrival, firefighters from a nearby station observed heavy fire spreading to several parts of the two and a half story house.
