Newark Firefighters Extinguish South Ward Building Blaze

Fire officials in Newark are investgiating the cause of a fire that damaged a building in the city's South Ward on Monday morning.

Officials say at approximately 1:12 a.m., firefighters were called to 118 Badger Avenue to investigate reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, crews found smoke and flames coming from a three-story multi-family house at that location.

Firefighters were told that everyone evacuated the building and were unharmed.

Entry was made into the structure where crews found the seat of the blaze and extinguished the fire in under an hour.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
