Newark Firefighters Extinguish Late-Night Blaze in Central Ward Building

Late Monday night, Newark firefighters were called to the scene of a fire in the city's Central Ward.NinosThe incident occurred at a mixed-occupancy building located at 485 Springfield Avenue, with the call coming in around 11:50 p.m.

Upon arrival, the first responders were met with intense flames from the structure. The fire was primarily concentrated on the third floor of the building, where crews discovered approximately two dozen mattresses ablaze.

Firefighters swiftly deployed multiple hose lines, attacking the fire from various angles to effectively contain the blaze.

In their efforts to ensure the safety of any potential occupants, firefighters conducted a thorough search of the building. Fortunately, no trapped or injured individuals were found.

The fire was successfully brought under control shortly after midnight.

As of now, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
